Ilford Public Art Strategy

Studio Gil explored the development of a public art strategy for Ilford Town Centre, London Borough of Redbridge. Activities were identified as opportunities to improve the public realm and get local people involved and invested in their neighbourhood.

The strategy identified local community groups and artists who could be involved in producing artwork; potential sites in Ilford Town Centre that are suitable for public art installations; and potential installations that could occur throughout the town centre. In addition it proposed strategy of approaching different typologies of site through a lens of tactical urbanism using examples of public art installations.
