Ledbury Estate Regeneration

Studio Gil collaborated Karakausevic Carson Architects, and Southwark Council on a scheme to renew the Ledbury Estate in Peckham, alongside other peer-sized practices Office Sian and nimtim. The project – which has achieved planning permission – will re-provide 224 council homes for existing residents with an additional 116 mixed-tenure homes, alongside a new community (TRA) hall, commercial spaces and a green and playable landscape and public realm.

Our practice supported the development of the community hall and was primarily engaged with design of the new tower for the estate, which joins a series of mid-rise buildings. Sustained engagement and co-design ensured that the local community felt they were involved in key decisions on all aspects of the scheme, and residents voted via ballot in 2021 for the renewal programme to take place.
