Latin American Cultural Centre

The Latin American Cultural Centre is a strategic vision for a new civic and cultural anchor in London, rooted in the long-standing presence and contribution of Latin American communities across the city.

Developed through research and engagement, the project responds to the displacement of established cultural hubs in areas such as Elephant and Castle and Seven Sisters, where regeneration has placed significant pressure on community infrastructure .

The proposal positions architecture as a catalyst for social justice; creating a permanent, purpose-built space that supports cultural expression, economic resilience, and collective identity.

Conceived as a multi-layered civic platform, the centre brings together performance spaces, community facilities, enterprise support, and learning environments, enabling a rich mix of activities spanning arts, food, music, education, and advocacy.

At its core, the project foregrounds inclusivity and participation, reflecting the inherently diverse and multi-generational nature of Latin American culture. It seeks to empower communities to shape, manage, and sustain their own spaces, while strengthening visibility within London’s cultural landscape.

By aligning cultural infrastructure with policy, funding mechanisms, and local partnerships, the project offers a replicable model for embedding community-led cultural assets within the city; ensuring that growth and regeneration work in tandem with, rather than against, existing communities.
